Tour Details

Mount Makalu (8463m) is located at Mahalangur Himalayas 19km southeast of Mt. Everest is the fifth highest peak in the world, lying in the Makalu Barun National Park that covers 2330 sq.km area extends from Solukhumbu and Sankhuwasabha districts of Nepal. Trekking in this region offers one with a great experience of walking and exploring natural Panorama. Makalu Base Camp Trek offers the amazing view of mountains including Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8516m), Ama Dablam (6456m), Cho Oyu (8152m) and Makalu (8463m). It is also known as for Makalu adventure treks.

Makalu base camp trek is often fairly difficult in some parts relying upon your level of physical fitness. Outstanding scenery of mountain peak Base Camp Trek’s route considerably provides distinctive cultural heritage and unimaginable views of mountain peaks. The trek begins with a flight from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar of Mid-eastern Nepal for half an hour. The path to Makalu Base Camp Trek envelops plain, the subtropical vale of Arun Geographic Region to extraordinary temperate passes referred to as Keke La pass (4230m) and Tutu La pass (4200m), several edges ascend up from the Barun river valley that is off the beaten middle hill trails.

Gurung, Rai, and sherpa are the most habitats in this region. The paths follow the gorgeous Barun stream vale within the mountain peak Barun park, crossing Shipton pass (4127 m) before incoming at mountain peak Base Camp (5000 m). Here we can view the south face of the mountain peak, likewise as Mount Everest and Lhotse. Also, you’ll experience the spectacular view of the mountain, Glacier Lake, and Hungu vale.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel.

Our tour guide or any representative team from Adventure Gandaki Treks and Expedition will pick you up and drop to your hotel. You have to book a hotel before your arrival.

Day 2Trekking preparation

For sightseeing we guide you to UNESCO world heritage site includes the Pashupatinath temple, Buddhist holy pilgrimage (Buddha and Shyambhu), Kathmandu durbar square, Bhaktapur Durbar square and Patan Durbar square.

Day 3Fly to Tumlingtar (50 minutes) and drive to Chichira (1980m): 3-4 hours

After breakfast, we head to the airport where we have a flight to Tumlingtar. It takes 1 hour from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar. During the flight, passengers can explore the beautiful valley, mountains, etc. After landing, we take porters to carry your bags and drive to Chichira (1980m) which takes about 3 to 4 hours. We stay overnight.

Day 4Trek from Chichira to Num (1560m): 6-7 hours

The destination set for today is Num (1560m). After breakfast, we head towards Num (1560m) which is 6 to 7 hours of walk through Chichira. We stay overnight here.

Day 5Trek from Num to Seduwa (1500m): 6-7 hours

The destination set for today is Seduwa (1500m). After breakfast, we head towards Seduwa (1500m) which is 6 to 7 hours walk through Num. We stay overnight here.

Day 06Trek from Seduwa to Tashigaon (21oom): 4-5 hours

The destination set for today is Tashigaon (2100m). After breakfast, we head towards Tashigaon, beautiful village and inhabitant of Sherpa and Tamang’s which 4 to 5 hours of walk from Seduwa. We stay overnight here.

Day 07Trek from Tashigaon to Khongma Danda (3500m): 6-7 hours

The destination set for today is Khongma Danda(3500m). Experiencing beautiful Tashigaon, we walk up and down the hills and walk for 6 to 7 hours till we reach Khongma Danda (3500m). We stay overnight here.

Day 08Trek from Khongma Danda to Mumbuk (3550m): 6-7 hours

The destination set for today is Mumbuk (3550m). After breakfast, we head towards Mumbuk (3550m) which is 6 to 7 hours of walk through Khongma Danda. We stay overnight here.

Day 09Trek from Mumbuk to Yangri Kharka (3557m): 6-7 hours

The destination set for today is Yangri Kharka (3557m). After breakfast, we head towards Yangri Kharka which is 6 to 7 hours of walk through Mumbuk. We stay overnight here.

Day 10Trek from Yangri Kharka to Langmale Kharka (4410m): 5-6 hours

The destination set for today is Langmale Kharka (4410m). After breakfast, we head towards Langmale Kharka (4410m) walking through the forest of rhododendron and fir which is 5 to 6 hours of walk from Yangri Kharka. We stay overnight here.

Day 11Trek from Langmale Kharka to Makalu Base Camp (4870m): 6-7 hours

Today is our best day of trekking so we wake early morning and climb to minor pass where we can have a glimpse of Mt Makalu through the south face. After we reach Makalu Base Camp (4870m), we can explore beautiful Mt Everest and Lhotse too. We stay overnight in a tent.

Day 12Acclimatization day.

Today we will rest and explore the Makalu Base Camp. Take picture, experience villages, forest and another beautiful panorama from the top. Climb up the mountain if the climate is favorable. After exploring the area, we come back and take rest.

Day 13Trek from Makalu Base Camp to Yangri Kharka: 6-7 hours

After breakfast, we head back to Yangri Kharka which is 6 to hours of walk through Makalu Base Camp experiencing beautiful snow-capped peaks. We stay overnight here.

Day 14Trek from Yangri Kharka to Dobate: 6-7 hours

After breakfast, we continue our trail to Dobate which is 6 to 7 hours of walk from Yangri Kharka. We stay overnight here.

Day 15Trek from Dobate to Khongma Danda: 5-6 hours

After breakfast, we head back to the previous trail Khongma Danda which is 5 to 6 hours of walk from Dobate. We stay overnight here.

Day 16Trek from Khongma Danda to Tashigaon: 4-5 hours

After breakfast, we trek back to Tashigaon which is 4 to 5 hours of walk from Khongma Danda. We stay overnight here.

Day 17 Trek from Tashigaon to Seduwa: 4-5 hours

Today’s destination is Seduwa so after breakfast, we head towards Seduwa which is 4 to 5 hours of walk from Tashigaon. We stay overnight here.

Day 18Trek from Seduwa to Num: 5-6 hours

Destination set for today is Num. After breakfast, we return back to the previous trail to Num which is 5 to 6 hours of walk from Seduwa. We stay overnight here.

Day 19Trek from Num to Tumlingtar: 6-7 hours

Destination set for today is Tumlingtar. After breakfast, we return back to the previous trail to Tumlingtar which is 6 to 7 hours of walk from Num. We stay overnight here, relaxing and celebrating the success.

Day 20Back to Kathmandu

In this day, we will have a flight to Kathmandu before that you can have shopping, collect souvenirs as per your wish and head to Kathmandu.

Day 21Final departure.

This is the day of your departure so you can have shopping and celebrate your successful trekking journey. Our representative with driver will take you to an airport on time.
