After your fresh morning breakfast, you begin the wonderful journey. The start of the journey is the most adventurous part. The 40-minute flight to Lukla awaits you with the thrill of getting caught in the turbulence because of the mountains hovering in the place. A slightly bumpy flight will provide you with the view of mountains and hills around the place. After you reach Lukla, you inaugurate your trek to Phakding. Here, you can encounter herds of yaks in the way which are used as the main source of the transport. On the way, you will descent towards Chheplung village to learn about the traditional Nepalese of the area. From there, you will be able to have a glimpse of a sacred mountain, Mt. Khumbila. You will spend the night at the Phakding in a teahouse.
On the third day, we begin the 6-7 hour trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar. You initiate the 900 m elevation to the biggest village in the area, Namche Bazaar. The beginning of the trek makes you familiar with the yaks rather than the normal transports you are used to. You proceed through the trail north up the valley of Benkar where you cross mesmerizing pine tree forest and Dudh Koshi River. You move along to Chumoa to reach Monjo, the entrance to Everest National Park. After crossing a suspension bridge, you are introduced to Jorsale village. The Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers associate you with your amazement. Namche Bazaar comes to view after a lot of steep climbs. You have the privilege of viewing snow-capped mountains every now and then like the Mt. Everest and Mt. Lhotse. You stay in Namche Bazaar for the night.
Today you spend your day acclimatizing such that you are familiar with the environment before proceeding in the altitude. Trekkers take the full advantage of this day by hiking towards the Sagarmatha National Park to get a mesmerizing sunrise view. The spectacular sight of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kongde and many other snowcapped mountains is just breathtaking. You can grab the opportunity to trek to Khumjung village (12401ft) where you get to acknowledge the Sherpa settlement. This is your chance to discover the lifestyle of Sherpas as one of them. You spend overnight in Namche Bazaar.
Today, your path will move downhill and then you will climb to pass via the mesmerizing Mon La pass before reaching Phortse Tenga. You will come across dazzling rhododendron and birch forests decked out with hanging lichens and mosses. Moving further on from Phortse Tenga, you will ascend to get to Dole. On this day, you will walk for approximately 5 hours. It is an easy trek and you will rest at a teahouse for the day.
Today our goal is to reach Mochermo at the altitude of 4470m. The trail will be lit by the rhododendron forests to the stunning valley. The marvellous vistas of Cho Oyu, Kantega and Thamserku will cheer and amaze you. A short trek of 4 hours will lead you to your destination where you rest for the night.
Today is the hardest part of your trek. You will be going from a basin with murmuring stream clustered with ice. As you gain the altitude, mesmerizing views of Cho La Lake start to occur. The Ama Dablam and Cholatse peak you from a distance. Upon reaching the top, you see prayer flags, strung across Cairns, flapping in the strong wind. The scenery of majestic peaks in all directions is breathtaking. Although long, the path leading down to Thangnak can be easily made out from the pass because it is just decent but can be hazardous if rocks are glazed by ice, a bit of cautiousness is needed. You reach Thangnak, a rather more substantial hamlet with a small village. Stepping out of the settlement, you are greeted by fabulous mountain views. The trail brings us to the Ngozumpa glacier edge after a short walk, which is the longest glacier in Nepal. Reaching the other side of the glacier, you get a view of the second of the Gokyo lakes on the series of six lakes. A short distance away is the third Gokyo Lake. We stay at the Gokyo Village for the night.
Today is an acclimatization day. You hike up to Gokyo Ri, 5330m. You will have a tremendous view of gorgeous mountain peaks from above. This will include Cho Oyu, Gyanchung King, Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cholatse, Tawache and many more. Those with more time and energy can make a trip up the valley to another lake, marked with the name Ngazumpa on the maps, or even beyond to a fifth lake. Then, you trek back to Gokyo where you will rest for tomorrow’s trek.
Today you leave the Gokyo to reach Thangnak. For this, you will need to cross over the lateral moraine of the Ngozumba glacier and walk across it. There are a short tricky downward slope, where some just take to the snow rather than the clamber down the boulders. You go up and down the route through the ice and small streams. The trail through glacier is little tricky and dangerous.
The day starts with a steep climb uphill providing a great view down the Chukkhung valley with Ilem peak visible at its end. Most trekkers take a short break here to prepare for the long march ahead. As you walk to the side of the valley, if you look down to the base, you can see a small village called Pheriche where you can treat any emergencies in the medical centre. You can refresh yourself in the nearest shops where only a small amount of civilization can be seen. You will also come in contact with moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. While climbing up a steep trail to Chupki Lhara, you find an array of stones with prayer flags used as memorials to the trekkers who perished on a mission to climb Everest. You have the opportunity to observe the beauty of Khumbutse, Lingtren, Pumori and Mahalangur Himal.
You start the most challenging and adventurous day to the Everest Base camp today. The trek moves along the trails of loose rocks and steep hills to accomplish your ultimate goal. You are under the strict guidance of the guide today so that you don’t get lost in the confusing path. The day is guided by the thrill of rocky dunes, moraine, and streams before reaching the Everest Base Camp. Upon reaching the Everest Base Camp, tents of mountaineers in bright colours get you excited against the monotony of grey surroundings. The great mountains Nuptse, Khumbuste, and Pumori are experienced from the base camp with the astounding beauty. You start your trail back to Gorak Shep for a good night’s rest. You get to the sight of the highest peak, Everest from up close for the first time.
This day, you attain the highest altitude of your whole trek, 5545m. In the cold temperature, you see beautiful peaks such as Lingtren, Khumbutse, and Changtse to the east that warm your hearts. As you reach Kala Patthar, you see up-close views of Mt. Everest made the trek worth it. The panoramic view of the mountains will bring a smile on your face. Now, it is time to return to Pheriche. Any kinds of medical problems can be shown in this place after the harsh trek. Your contribution will be regarded as local people’s treatment. You spend the night at Pheriche to gain adequate rest for tomorrow
You initiate your trek backward truly satisfied with the beauty of nature. As you start your steps, you realize that it is easier to climb down the steep surface than climbing up. Most trekkers feel this hardship because of low expectations. However, after own experience amidst the white and grey background of beautiful mountains, you are truly amazed. Watching rhododendron and juniper trees, you cross the prayer-flag festooned bridge over the Dudh Koshi River. You are spectacled by the pine forests where you may come across colourful pheasants and mountain goats. Gradually, the decrease in altitude increases your energy. You will also enjoy the scenery of Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Nuptse mountains.

There are high chances of altitude sickness to many trekkers since the trek covers the altitude of 5545m. Along with it, there is a need for the trekkers to be familiar with the cold weather. It is essential for the trekkers to have the common vaccinations. If there are any children travelling, it must be on the guidance of their guardian.
The trip is not suitable for pregnant women and people with an adverse health condition. For children who are under 14-15, it is best to hire porters to carry the heavier equipment, since the children will not be able to manage the heavy loads over rough terrain, and you do not want to have to carry all their stuff as well as your own. The same can be said of elderly people, over sixty may be able to make the long trek to ABC, but they need to be physically fit and have no serious conditions.
Deciding the best time for trekking is itself an adventurous elimination game. It is not completely unfavourable to visit during the other seasons. However, for the best experience, a clear season is recommended. The months from December to February are cold seasons and May brings summer vibes. If you are interested in a trip in your choice of season, it is a remarkable choice for you. However, as a travel agency, Adventure Gandaki seeks the best experience for a trekker. This trek is highly recommended in the month of September-November or mid-March-mid April when the season is clear.
The choice of these months will give you a great chance to view the beauty of Himalayas at their best. There are blooming flowers like rhododendron, the national flower of the country found abundantly. The trail will be colourful and eye-catching giving you a different level of energy during these months. The Gokyo Lakes will also be highly breathtaking in view.
