Mera Peak (6,476m) is the mountain in the Mahalanguar section, Barun sub-section of the Himalaya, the highest trekking peak on Everest region is one of the most demanding and challenging but technically an easy climbing peak so one can have an excellent first peak climb without other climbing experience. Mera North, 6,476 m. (21,247 ft); Mera Central, 6,461 m. (21,198 ft); and Mera South, 6,065 m. (19,898 ft), as well as a smaller “trekking summit”, visible as a distinct summit from the south but not marked on most maps of the region. For this, we provide the necessary training and workout before climbing the peak. The other attraction of this trekking is we can have a magnificent summit view five 8,000m peaks including Mt Everest (8,848m), Mt Kanchenjunga (8,586m), Mt Makalu (8,463m), Mt Cho Oyu (8,201m) and Mt Lhotse (8,516m).
We ascend Mera Peak during the spring and autumn seasons as these seasons is the best time to climb the mountain for its astonishing views of the Himalayas.
The trekking starts with an exciting flight to Lukla in Solukhumbu. During the trek, we pass through a terraced landscape of Nepal foothills across small and beautiful villages where most of the hardy Sherpa’s are inhabited. Crossing two high passes we reach Hinku Valley which has large settlement area. Finally, from Hinku to Khare, we reach Mera Peak where we make our base camp. The altitude is low ascending snow slopes that rarely cross over 30 degrees. We can experience unforgettable sunrise view on Kanchenjunga and Everest from the upper slopes of Mera Peak. We will also have outstanding views of watershed areas, magnificent natural landscape, wild and heavily wooded valleys of Hongu and Hinku, densely forested hills and many more.

A challenging day crossing Zatrwa La Pass with wide mountain views, then descending to Thuli Kharka.
Long descent through forests and river valleys into the Hinku Valley, reaching Kothe.
Steady walk up the Hinku Valley past yak pastures and glacial landscapes to Thagnak.
Rest day with short acclimatization hikes around Thagnak to adjust to altitude.
Today we can experience an excellent valley opening out views to the north of the Hinku Nup glacier and the line of peaks beyond. From Charpatti Tal, the path descends slightly and crosses a sandy bowl to the steep stream that descends from Dig Kharka. The route continues somewhat up towards Khare. From Khare, it is possible to do a glacier session to ensure that everyone is happy with the use of ropes and crampons.
Today is another acclimatization day for our high peak climbing of the next days. The views of Mera from our breakfast table at Khare are particularly stunning. Stroll around and prepare to attempt the peak overnight at Camp.
This is an exciting day as we climb onto the Mera Glacier and follow it to the pass. We have to march through steep route (about 260 meters), and it takes around 2 to 3 hours to reach Base Camp. The views make us speechless as we can enjoy the Everest, Makalu, Baruntse, Kusum Kanguru, and many other mountains and peaks in panorama. Moreover, we will trek high to High Camp. On the way, see the beautiful view of Mera peak and glaciers. From High Camp, if weather permits, we will have a panorama of Kanchenjunga far to the east. The camp is located at an excellent point from where you can have some great mountain views.
This is probably the most essential and most robust day on any mountaineering trip on this trip. It is usually necessary to rope up for much of the summit approach due to crevasse hazards along the route. As it starts to get light, we enjoy incredible views across to Baruntse (7129m), Chamlang (7319m), and Nau Lekh (6360m) with Makalu (8481m) looming behind. After achieving the summit, you retrace your steps down to high camp. After taking pictures and enjoying the view, we descend by the same route back to our campsite at Khare for the night’s rest. You will find this day-long but an inspirational one for your life! Overnight at Khare.
Today we will hike for like 7 hours to reach Kothe. We descend firstly to Tagnag before continuing to Kothe. The night we enjoy local wines and foods and relax at the camp and overnight.
You will follow another new route back to Thuli kharka that stays high on the open hillside. It’s nice to walk through the red Rhododendron forest with the beaten trail of the Himalaya of Nepal. We observe the full range of Mera peaks, Mera North, Mera Central, Mera South from Thuli Kharka.
We cross the exciting Zatrwa La pass (4,600m) before descending steeply into the Dudh Kosi valley and to Lukla. We trek through forests of fir, rhododendron, oak, juniper, and local vegetation. After crossing the pass, we see the beautiful view of Lukla valley Cho yu, Kongde peak, Numbur Himal, Kusum Khangru, and so many others. Spend the last night of trek strolling around the Lukla valley.
Saying a final goodbye to our porters, we will have a flight back to ktm of an exciting one hour. (It also can be an extra day in case of bad weather in Lukla, which makes the Lukla flight delayed and cancel.) In the evening, you can have your last night in Nepal enjoying the Nepali cultural dinner show exchanging greetings among friends and with all Nepalese people. You can buy some souvenirs.
Today is free or the last minute. You have a few hours of unique shopping for your relatives. We will drop you to the International airport to catch your flight back to your home and wish for your Safe journey.
